Thoughts move us forward, but what controls those thoughts?

Thoughts carry forward. This is the truest nature of the human mind. It begins with a topic, which then materializes in the mind and carries forward, inspiring the mind to move from one to the other like the web of a spider. Have you ever stopped in the middle of the conversation to re-trace the original topics in your mind? Have you then wondered how you have moved from one topic to a completely unrelated topic throughout the conversation (external or internal)?

This is a concept that must be further explored by the individual from an observer perspective. Understanding what factors, motivations, inspirations are involved when moving from one thought to another. With this objective understanding, one can discover more about themselves.

A great metaphor to symbolize and explain this concept is as follows:

The mind is the radio, and the thoughts are the signals. Think of a radio having some storage space and an information processing unit. This radio is always tuned to a signal but is constantly changed many times throughout the day from the external environment. Lets also think for a second that “Focus” is the knob on this radio.

The storage space and the processor work in conjunction with the external influence or signal to project the thought in the mind’s view. During this process, internal motivations, beliefs and frontal logic is applied and finally the thought is materialized.

This can also be a way to explain why every individual interprets thoughts and actions differently. This is also the reason why sometimes where there is conflicting information processed in the mind, there is much discrimination in interpretation. One thing we know is that when comparing all with all individuals, we have a standard set of very similar and sometimes identical information stored in our minds. In this way, we are actions are the result which cause us to build or attempt to physically materialize this thought.

Could this be a factor that gives birth to the world around us?

There are always influences that cause the mind to keep processing thoughts. Sitting down, hearing external sounds of a distant TV playing, music, video-games, working at a job are also good examples of factors that keep this mind busy. Our mind (radio) is usually tuned into one of these channels. Try and analyze what are your standard thoughts throughout the day?

Think for a second and believe that we could stop this. The question would be “How so?”
The answer is simple. Thoughtlessness!

How can one be without thoughts? To be honest, there is no way to simply say one is “thoughtless”. You could wipe the chalkboard clean but if you look closer, there are still some traces of chalk left behind. This is much like the mind itself. It is yet unknown to me whether true thoughtlessness actually exists and or whether it is achievable. All claims of thoughtlessness are debatable hence lets naturally assume for a minute that it doesn’t exist.

It is possible to slow down your thoughts to the point of observation. Relieve the mind of all the weight, relaxing, and allowing everything to flow naturally. There is no focus, no focus on anything, but a focus on simplicity. Everything exists, sentient to itself and needs not to be disturbed, such is the case of the Past. All things have a meaning, it is not those things you must by carrying around, but rather the meanings. Let us drop this heavy bag, known as “The Past”.

Lets take a deep breath, and now its time to move forward…..

The Past controls The Future. The Present can change it. Freedom in its truest form lies in this.

Can you think of a time when you could not recall, what occured a minute ago, days ago, or even years ago? Rememberance is a delicate tool. It is a common biological function that not just carries our personal development forward but also moves us on a grand evolutionary scale. Each and every step of the way, one always has multiple options before deciding to action upon them. When examining every outcome of every choice, one always recalls the Past to provide an insight and often follows through with it. This is the reason why the Past has a significant effect on the reaction of an action.

As one grows into adulthood, he/she become further locked into a world view of preconceived notions. I may see a person in ordinary clothes and see them as an average person when it could be a CEO of a successful company. I may see a plant growing at the side of the street which I walk by everyday, when it could be a rare or near extinct breed. It happens much too often where one misses the opportunity of an experience that is out of their scope of knowledge and experience. A chance to see the world as one could not imagine, and chance to learn in a way one could not think possible.

Mankind is conflicted with their world views which are also often the cause of conflicts. Throughout history, some of the greatest minds have always viewed the world in much unorthodox manners. The combination of their knowledge and views have been the source of their success. The only way to find such freedom is to take away from the source that has the greatest influence on one's decision of a world view. The Past comes into light when I speak of this. One simply needs to examine their views with a new approach and ignore the Past for a moment.

The key is to forget all pre-conceived notions developed throughout past experiences.

Pretend for a moment that you are not in acquaintance with everything that surrounds you, not even yourself. See the world in these shoes for a moment and take note of your feelings and your reactions, elaborate on it and grow accustomed to it. Keep discovering and you will be amazed. Thus is why I often reaffirm, "die every moment, and rebirth every moment." This allows for a capability to experience the true beauty of the world, without any bias, any preconceived notions, or general beliefs. A world as it was meant to be seen, heard, felt, and experienced...

True knowledge is not putting the answers to the questions but rather questions to the answers

How, and what is the question you ask? Is not the curiosity of the answer that drives you forward? Is it not the joy, the struggle, the pain, and the lessons learned in the journey that gives taste to your
achievement?

With each and every discovery, one tends to ask further questions and finds themselves dwelling further within the depth of the subject. This is why it is important to remember that knowing a portion of knowledge leads to confusion and misjudgment. Knowing the whole portion is to be applauded as true knowledge. It is also wise to know that there is no end to this cycle with the reliance on questions to move forward.

Now suppose what would be the wonder of the forbidden fruit were it not forbidden at all? It would seem ordinary to one hence not stirring the curiosity to ask the question and lead to a certain action?

Wonder is a beautiful thing. It’s the greatest gift god has given to man. I wish to achieve therefore I achieve. I dare to ask what lies beyond, hence I wonder. Whilst the surrounding wonders, I find courage and determination to achieve the impossible. Within the journey, I may find myself struggling, or perhaps these are the answers I was truly in search of. The struggle might also be an indication that my answer draws near.

One thing I know as fact is that significance can only exist when I earn my goal. There was only meaning when  I ran through the woods, without turning back and reached its end. Standing at the brink of the end, atop a mountain, I reflect. I think about the hard times, the struggles, my over comings and determination that pushed me forward. I smile with joy as I have gained so much, not simply the answer but the experience and wisdom. Filled with euphoria, I glance my eyes forward once again. The question rises in my mind what next. There is only one way to find out.

It is not the answer that moves the world forward. It is the questions. You dare to ask therefore your wonder, imagination, and your ultimate plan moves you forward. When you stop and reflect, once again there is another question that inspires you to move further and further, building you at every step.

Feel free to ask yourself what this meant for you...
